Fall Fishing on the Rainy River, Big Walleye on Video

This year’s weather has certainly had it share of ups and downs, wind and calm, cold and hot.  I am not sure if the walleyes know when to start heading up the Rainy River.  So far, the weather has been unseasonably warm and the water temps are in the low 50’s.  Consequently, there are not many walleyes headed up river yet.  It should be happening soon.

In the meantime, anglers fishing the lake have had great fishing.  Right now, there is a pile of walleyes and saugers in 27-30′ right in front of Pine Island on the south shore, in front of Zippel Bay and on various reefs around Arnesen’s.

This week, fishing on the river was just ok.  Not many fish yet, but some big ones are being caught… Like this one!
