Outdoor Adventure Foundation at Lake of the Woods

This past weekend marked the annual visit to Lake of the Woods by the Outdoor Adventure Foundation. This year’s event took place at Cyrus Resort. A group of young children, with life threatening illnesses, along with their families came north for a 3 night, 2 day fishing adventure. Charters took them out on Saturday and Sunday, and a fresh fish fry was enjoyed by all on Saturday night. Day 2 of fishing brought in enough limits to send the families home with some fish as well.

“The Outdoor Adventure Foundation provides hunting and fishing adventures for children under the age of 18 and young adults under the age of 25 with cancer or other life threatening illness.

We also provide hunting and fishing adventures for combat disabled veterans under the age of 40 that are wheelchair bound caused by injury or have lost a limb during active service.

These adventures will include big game hunts such as deer, elk, moose, bear or small game including duck, goose, pheasant and quail. Fishing trips are fresh and salt water species of many kinds including bass, walleye northern pike, muskie, salmon, halibut trout and others.

We have been able to fulfill dream hunts for these individuals. With your help we can continue making these dreams come true for others in our area.”

Much of their money is raised. Fundraisers and other events, as well as donations, help to fund all these magical memories. Here is one that is going on now! A raffle for a 40 acre hunting plot!!! Read more about it now. raffle oaf
