Lake of the Woods has over 2,000 square miles of inviting water, studded with more than 14,000 islands, most of which are uninhabited, and is filled with a fisherman's bounty of musky, sauger, bass and walleye. The area offers an abundance of wildlife and excellent duck hunting.

Lake of the Woods' Northwest Angle offers vacationers of all ages a breathtakingly beautiful wilderness area where the fishing in Minnesota or Ontario is extraordinary. Privacy and quiet relaxation are a common occurrence. Anglers can take time to explore the islands (there are over 14,000), swim along sandy beaches, or enjoy some nature and bird watching.

Prothero's Post Resort, established in 1963, has 5 charming, modern log cabins nestled in the woods. They are fully equipped and make you feel right at home. They contain handcrafted log furniture which compliment the natural log interior and screened-in porch. There is a sitting room with a lakefront view in each cabin, which is warm, cozy and perfect for storytelling with family and friends. A 16' Lund boat and dock space are included.

New 25 hp outboard motor rental is available. There is a small store with tackle, bait, gas, pop, candy, and souvenirs.

Directions to Prothero's Post Resort: Angle Inlet is situated on the Canada - Minnesota boundary. Access is via a blacktopped and gravel road from Sprague, Manitoba, Canada on roads No. 308 and 525. Or if you prefer to fly, a sod airstrip is located on the mainland.
