Art Show at Sunset Lodge
On Saturday, August 26th from 12-4 there will be an art show at Sunset Lodge.
About the Author Richard Theissen.
My works are done in acrylic paint using brushes, and sponges. My main subject matter throughout my life has been waterfowl. I have explored the realm of waterfowl stamp competitions (duck stamps), and now I focus on studies, and interaction of the birds with their environment.
I prefer to work lifesize if at all possible, that way I can add as much of the anatomy, and details of the bird(s) to the painting. Realism, and strong lighting are key in producing the final price.
I have a vast collection of different duck, and goose wings of species, which I use to keep the accuracy of the colors, feather placement, and scale. Subjects are created also from photographers that I take myself. Collaborating my years of observation, along with other photos of habitat, a composition is created. Carefully sketched, then with thin layers of paint, the painting is brought to life.
Some work will be for showing and some others will be available for sale.
