Fishing For Life At Pay It Forward 2015
Fishing For Life is an organization dedicated to bring the joy of fishing and the outdoors to those less fortunate. This is their second year volunteering at the new annual Pay It Forward event that will be held in at Lake of the Woods in Baudette, MN the weekend of August 22nd.
“Founded in 2004, Fishing For Life has been serving kids, families and communities through fishing and outdoor programs for more than a decade. That’s our mission, but here’s what we’re really about: relationships.” To read more about Fishing For Life and their story, click HERE
Fishing For Life, led by Tom Goodrich, works with organizations such as the Wounded Warrior projects, the DAV and others assisting the organizers of the Lake of the Woods Pay It Forward event with the selection process of veterans for the event as well as a variety of other aspects of the event that’s purpose is to bring wounded and deserving men and women to Lake of the Woods for a 3 night, 2 day fishing extravaganza. The intent of Pay It Forward is to recognize, honor and celebrate veterans.
“We can’t say enough good things about the role Tom Goodrich and the many other very dedicated members of Fishing For Life brought to last year’s and certainly this year’s event”, explains Executive Director of Lake of the Woods Tourism, Joe Henry. “Tom being a veteran himself understands veterans and the many struggles they face, both from serving and currently while back home. The battle isn’t necessary over for many just because they are home and this Fishing For Life group understands that, hence, are very beneficial to the overall mission of the event. We are grateful for their efforts.”
Tom Goodrich, the founder of Fishing For Life, is a retired Marine himself and has a personal connection to this event and builds relationships with each one of the veterans that attend. In addition to Goodrich, a number of key Fishing For Life volunteers make the trip and are a big help to make the weekend a success.
