Frost Fest Fish House Parade

The Lake of the Woods Area always has great events happening to celebrate the great winter seasons that we have. Mark your calendars and plan to be a part of the Holiday Light and Frost Fest Fish House Parade taking place in downtown Baudette, MN  on Saturday, November 23. After a lack of registries in 2018 caused the annual event to be cancelled, it is with great hope the parade can once again be part of the annual holiday season kickoff events this year. This year, during Frost Fest,  the Baudette Community Foundation, which owns and operates the Grand Theater, has stepped up to work with the Baudette-Lake of the Woods Chamber of Commerce to organize the parade. The Frost Fest Fish House Parade is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 and will line up on the south side of Sacred Heart Catholic Church on 1st Street SW. The parade will then travel three blocks north along Main Avenue, crossing Highway 11 and ending in front of the Grand Theater. Floats, cars, animals and fish houses are just a sampling of possible entries and all registrants must abide by one central rule: All entries must have some sort of lighting on them. Businesses, organizations, families, churches and more are all invited to participate but are asked to register by calling Mike Hovde (218-434-0237) or Karoline Ketchum (218-929-7160) by November 22. Last minute entries for the Frost Fest Fish House Parade will be allowed to participate if they “just show up” the day of the parade, but they won’t qualify for prizes. Plaques will be awarded for first place and runners-up in Best Float and Best Fish House categories. The Fish House Parade will just be one event in a full day of activities. Also scheduled for November 23 is the annual Craft and Vendor Extravaganza at Lake of the Woods School, a special showing of “Home Alone” courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce (location to be determined), a community lasagna dinner sponsored by the Community Foundation, tree lighting and fireworks over the frozen Baudette Bay will cap off the days events. If you’re coming to the area you may find great lodging experiences at More information on the events themselves can be found at and in the Northern Light Region newspaper.
