Lake of the Woods Fishing on Midwest Outdoors TV This Weekend

Lake of the Woods will be featured this weekend on Midwest Outdoors TV with a special look into charter fishing.  Greg Jones, host of Midwest Outdoors and Joe Henry with Lake of the Woods Tourism will preview what’s in store if you decide to use a full service charter or use a guide.

There are a lot of ways to catch walleyes on The Walleye Capital of the World, but in this segment, we explore a few of the most effective.  In true LOW style, this show doesn’t disappoint.

The show will air this weekend on Fox Sports North and Fox Sports WI. Check your local listings or check out the Midwest Outdoors website to learn more.

There are a lot of ways to fish LOW.  Charters make life easy.  Have a nice breakfast and at about 8am, step aboard.  A licensed charter captain will lead your journey.  Everything is provided such as rod and reels, bait, tackle, etc.  Some offer shore lunches while others focus on fishing.  All you have to think about is catching fish and having a nice time.

Charters are great for families, folks who don’t own a boat, business groups, those who may be intimidated by the sheer size of Big Traverse Bay or the 14,552 islands located amongst primarily the north end of the lake starting around the NW Angle.

Some anglers who fish Lake of the Woods bring their own boats.  There are numerous access points around the Rainy River, south shore and NW Angle to land a boat and take advantage of this great resource.  There are many opportunities for the die hard angler who prefers to do it on their own.

Up at the NW Angle, there are a couple of charters available, but most guides use a smaller boat such as a 20 – 23′ to better navigate amongst the islands that extend up into Ontario and to provide shore lunches.  The resorts can provide you with experienced guides who can help you to experience the Angle in a magical way.  Catching walleyes, muskies, crappies, pike, perch and smallmouth bass.  Being treated to a fresh shore lunch.  Enjoying the 14,552 islands on LOW.  A great opportunity.

Charter boats with professional licensed guides are a great way to provide a great fishing experience.  Big boats with guides who are networked with other guides will give you the best chance to have a successful fishing trip.  Even for experienced anglers, jumping aboard a charter can be very relaxing, not having to worry about navigation or figuring out the fish.  If you are interested in charter fishing or guided fishing, contact one of the many resorts on Lake of the Woods.
