Lake of the Woods Fishing Report

Everything is building up for a great end of July and August fishing on Lake of the Woods. Spinners with leeches, crawlers, or minnows in 15 feet and out to 31 feet catching walleyes and saugers. Finding structure key. Gold doing good as always. White and silver color doing good as well as walleyes are chowing on tulibee. Pike active all over the lake, perch scattered in schools, and smallmouth bite is on fire.
Anglers in the Rainy River finding some walleyes with the morning/evening being better than day bite.  Trolling cranks or pulling spinners producing the best . Smallmouth bass scattered all over in the river by docks, structure, and feeder streams/back bays. Sturgeon fishing is on and many sturgeon caught as well as seen breaking water level.

Up at the NW Angle, fishing has remained hot. The areas by Little Oak and Little Massacre holding fish along with NW Point and Bridges. Spinners with crawlers in 20-24 feet or over reefs. Crankbaits filling coolers daily. On the Canadian side, jigging and pulling spinners on reefs continues as a great tactic.   Muskie fishing good with many large fish caught and seen, casting bucktails over wed/rock transitions still rocking it. Algae Bloom minimal, visibility still good . Lodging, charters and guides are available at www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com/Lodging.
