Numerous Fishing Tournaments Coming to LOW in 2018

If you compete or follow competitive fishing, or just like to better understand to break apart a body of water for success, Lake of the Woods might be in your future.  There are many top fishing tournaments coming to Lake of the Woods and the Rainy River this summer and fall.

MTT, Lake of the WoodsFirst off, the MTT (MN Tournament Trail) is coming back to Lake of the Woods.  The MTT is a team tournament with two anglers per boat.  A loyal tournament circuit to Lake of the Woods, the MTT will have two one day tournaments July 6 and 7, 2018.  There is a fun twist to the summer tournaments this year.  The first tournament on July 6th is a PRT or photo release tournament.  This is the first time the MTT has done this format on Lake of the Woods.   The tournament on July 7th is a traditional weigh tournament.  mtt logo

A new tournament coming to Lake of the Woods this year for the first time is the MWC or Master’s Walleye Circuit on July 13 and 14, 2018.  This is a well known regional tournament circuit also comprised of two mwc logoperson teams.  The Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit is the longest running professional team walleye tournament series.  This will be a shootout with a field estimated at 80+ boats.  For more info, check out their website or contact the MWC at 580-765-9031 or email them at events@masterswalleyecircuit.com.

Another new tournament to the area highlights a fish in great abundance that does not get much attention, the bass.  The NABC, North American Bass Circuit is coming to the Rainy River July 15, 2018.  The Rainy River is loaded with smallmouth bass and often get caught accidentally by walleye and sturgeon anglers.  nabc logo

This tournament is open to the public.  If you like bass, fishing the Cabela’s North American bass Circuit, you’ll test your bass fishing skills against the best anglers form your region, and become a better bass angler in the process. Plus, you’ll make new friends, build your bass fishing career and have a great time on the water—all by fishing the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit.

And finally, another professional walleye tournament circuit that has never been to Lake of the Woods is coming September 5-7, 2018.  The NWT or National Walleye Tour features some of the biggest and well known names in the walleye world.

nwt logo9 national walleye tourThis tournament features pros who are teamed up with amateur anglers who enter the tournament as an amateur and have the chance to be teamed up with a different pro each day of the tournament.  For walleye anglers wanting the opportunity to really increase their knowledge of walleye fishing and do it on The Walleye Capital of the World, this is a wonderful opportunity.

 

There are a number of other tournaments through resorts and businesses on a smaller scale throughout the year as well, but when it comes to some of the tournaments that receive much of the attention in the fishing world, these four are certainly towards, if not at, the top!
