Snowmobile Trails Staked Across LOW

It is that time of year where snowmobiles run everywhere in Northern Minnesota. It’s no different for Lake of the Woods and  the surronding area.

The trails are staked from Baudette to Wheeler’s Point and from Wheeler’s Point to Oak Island and the NW Angle. The trail going west towards Warroad was also recently staked. The trail going north to Oak Island will have some twists and turns to guide you through the rough ice but is however in good condition. The trail going to Warroad is in good condition. snowmobile trail staking

Trails on land are in good shape, they are packed down and are currently waiting for some good powder!

Snow depth varies all over from bare ice to a foot or more in drifted areas, but overall there is plenty of ice to lubricate your  track from your sled.

Remember cracks can open at anytime. Trails are monitored often but something is always happening with the ice and can change on a moments notice. In saying that take your time and be careful out there. Safety first.

In these parts, ice fishing gets most of the attention, and for good reason.  After all, we are The Walleye Capital of the World.  A little secret, the snowmobiling is world class.  Because we don’t get a ton of snowmobilers like other more snowmobile popular areas, the trails aren’t beat down so hard.  This leads to some awesome snowmobiling amongst some of the most beautiful scenery found anywhere.
If you are interested in snowmobiling Lake of the Woods, check out one of our over 60 options for lodging.
Don’t forget about our lodging availability finder on busy weekends.  Simply enter your contact info, the dates you are interested in and what part of the area you would like to stay and an email is automatically sent to the many resorts, hotels and outfitters in the area and if they have openings or a cancellation, they will contact you back.  This is a nice way to find lodging during the most popular times.
