The Lub Dub 5K – 10K Run -Walk in Baudette August 22!
What do you think of when you hear the words, lub dub, lub dub, lub dub. If you are in the medical field or perhaps have had CPR training, you might know this is the sound the heart makes when it beats. Hence, appropriate is the Lakewood Regional Healthcare Foundation’s new Lub Dub 5k – 10k Run – Walk. The run – walk will take part the morning of Saturday, August 22nd as part of the community celebration, WalleyeFest.
Serious racers, casual joggers, couples, friends and families are all invited to take part in this first of what is planned on being an annual race. The race day begins with registration and swag bag pick up from 8am – 8:50am and the race starting at 9am. The route begins at the Lake of the Woods County Fairgrounds in Baudette and will take runners through the streets of The Walleye Capital of the World again finishing up at the Fairgrounds.
After the running event, other daytime events in Baudette and at the fairgrounds include the Fresh Start Farmer’s Market, bouncy houses for the kids, afternoon musical entertainment, food, special sales at local merchants and lots more.
That evening, take part in the community walleye fry at the fairgrounds as River Bend Resort will be preparing their famous fish fry, bacon and all of the fixings. This will be a special night as injured veterans from the Pay It Forward charity event taking place the same day will be participating in the fish fry as well. It is only fitting the Baudette – Lake of the Woods community will enjoy a special evening along side veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.
After dinner, enjoy top notch entertainment from the Twin Cities as the Groove Merchants, featuring Jimi “Prime Time” Smith, the 2014 MN Blues Performer of the Year take the stage. The Groove Merchants participated at last year’s event and the response over the top.
