This is the time for sportshows in the Midwest and Lake of the Woods Tourism has participated in a bunch.  This weekend, Friday through Sunday, is the WI Fishing Expo in Madison, WI and LOW Tourism will be there.  Lots of outdoor minded folks checking out a variety of destinations, boats, campers, fishing gear and seminars by some of the top names in fishing.

Joe Henry, Lake of the Woods walleyeJoe Henry of Lake of the Woods Tourism will talking Lake of the Woods with folks attending the show in Madison.  Sportshows are a great way to gain a much better understanding of an area such as Lake of the Woods.  Sometimes it can be overwhelming.  Should I stay in Baudette, along the Rainy River, South Shore or up at the NW Angle?  Should I bring my own boat or jump in with a guide?  Based on the group of people who plan on coming to LOW, what resort would fit us the best?  This is a great opportunity to narrow down the choices and make sure you get a good handle on when to go, where to go and how to do it.

Sportsman's Lodge breakfast buffet, Lake of the WoodsIf you like fishing, Lake of the Woods is a world class destination.  As important, the resort community offers a wide variety of full service options that make a trip, especially for anglers who aren’t overly experienced, a very quality experience.

Imagine, sitting down to a nice breakfast.  At about 8am, walk down to the dock with your group and climb aboard!  Your U.S. Coast Guard licensed guide will take you on an adventure for walleyes, saugers, pike, crappies, bass, muskies or sturgeon.  Some guided trips come complete with shore lunch (make sure to check in advance).  At the end of the day, the guide will drop you off at your cabin just in time for happy hours while he/she cleans your fish.  Now this is a vacation!
